This year marks 200 years of diplomatic and business relations between Sweden and the United States. Since then, Sweden has grown to the single biggest investor per capita in the U.S. I feel honored to head SACC-SF/SV and to facilitate trade between Sweden and the most technology-intense area in the United States, as well as the world. In the Bay Area alone, countless of startups are created and cultivated by Swedes.

On May 24th I attended the Executive Forum in Washington D.C. that marked this anniversary. Representatives from 20 Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce gathered to discuss topics related to the age of disruption. It was a truly inspiring day that reinforced the notion that Sweden and the U.S. share a focus on innovation as the driving force in creating jobs and solutions to new challenges.

We are also pleased to announce that our current board member Adiba Barney will be stepping into the role as the Chairwoman of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Board. Adiba is the former CEO of Silicon Valley Forum and also served as the Executive Director of Silicon Vikings. We are certain that she will continue be a great asset to our organization. Welcome Adiba!
