The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco & Silicon Valley enjoyed holding an interactive webinar with Alexandra Hoffmann on March 25, 2021.

During this webinar, Alexandra covered the art of leading your team through a crisis and being resilient. The engaging workshop covered tools to boost your emotional intelligence, and that we first need to understand the 3 C of Resilience: crisis, change, and conflict. Conflict starts within yourself. Therefore, learning how to be aware of our emotional response to events is essential to be more conscious of our actions and behaviors.
The webinar’s main takeaway is that successful leadership in crisis management is characterized by leaders who can control their stress and show confidence in themselves. According to a Harvard study, 88% of the participants evaluated successful leaders by being confident and 86% by managing stress[1].
2021 is still uncertain; hence, we need to develop essential skills to handle constant change times. Based on a Forbes article from November 2020[2], here are the top 10 skills to develop:

In conclusion, here are some small tools to help you deal with a crisis. First, ask questions and for other people’s perspectives. The way forward is together, and we cannot know what challenges might lay ahead if we do not ask questions. Secondly, pursue the “good stuff.” Think and reflect about three good things that have happened to you daily, even the smallest ones:
- Why did this happen?
- What does this mean to me?
- What can I do tomorrow?
- How do I, or others, contribute?
