After the ban on dine-in service in California, Scandinavian restaurants are struggling to find ways to survive the corona-crisis and, to help the community.
NEWS Kantine, the Scandinavian restaurant on 1906 Market Street in San Francisco, is trendy among Scandinavians in the city.
“It is a tough decision whether to close or stay open right now, but we decided to serve the community for as long as possible, and as long as it is safe,” said Joachim Majholm, that started the restaurant together with his wife Nichole Accettola in 2017.
Guests are welcome to order directly at Kantine or at the website for pickup.
“We believe that our offer of touch-free pickup is safer than going to the supermarket or getting delivery, and we still have a full menu including kanelbullar (cinnamon buns),” said Joachim Majholm.
Flights Restaurants founder and CEO, Alexander Hult, has initiated a fundraiser intending to feed the elderly and those most impacted by Covid-19.
“We have already served hundreds of people in need, and more restaurant partners and organizations are coming on board,” said Alexander Hult in an update on Facebook on Wednesday.
Swedish Alexander Hult is also a former hockey pro and Shark player, and Shark’s current player Erik Karlsson has donated 1000 USD to the campaign.
Flights Group has restaurants in Los Gatos, Mountain View, Las Vegas, Campbell, and Burlingame.
