In a conversation with Andrea Tegstam – Executive Recruiter and Director, International Practice at Westwood & Wilshire executive search – she shares insights about a recent new division launch, AccelPeople, and discusses her company’s role in helping Nordic startups expanding to the US market.
The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco & Silicon Valley has the pleasure to introduce Westwood & Wilshire as their new small business partner. Westwood & Wilshire specializes in placing Director, VP, C-Suite (and Board member) executives who scale companies and are a premier provider of talent for Life sciences, Healthcare, and Advanced Technology industries (and the intersections of these three). They work primarily with venture-backed startups and also with mid-size growth to Fortune 500 clients. People are an organization’s greatest assets, and the company is passionate about engaging premier talent relevant for the client at its specific growth stage. With offices in Los Angeles (CA), Silicon Valley (CA), Scottsdale (AZ), and Seattle (WA), the Westwood & Wilshire team serves clients on a local, national and global basis.
Westwood & Wilshire will be taking part in the upcoming Life Science event, Bridging the Gap. The purpose of the event is to promote trade across borders and build bridges between different regions and is an initiative by the three biggest life science clusters in the United States: The Swedish-American Chambers in San Francisco/Silicon Valley, San Diego, and Boston. The event will be held on 7-8th of April on Zoom.
“Westwood & Wilshire believes in Swedish Companies and would like to build bridges that can facilitate for Swedish startups looking for talent in the US and/or ready to launch on the US market.”
Westwood & Wilshire believe in Swedish companies and have a desire to work closely with Nordic talent. Andrea is a Swedish native and understands the differences between Swedish and American business culture and startups’ needs at different growth stages. Her team takes pride in researching the competitive landscape of their clients, mapping talent, and marketing the opportunity at hand to attract top candidates best. As a small retained search firm, her team can also design their involvement depending on their needs and budget.
Westwood & Wilshire recently launched AccelPeople, a center for organizational excellence, which helps leaders determine and build people practices to create a strong company foundation. The challenge for many companies is balancing how to attract and hire top talent to retain talent and scale culture as your company grows. The answer is to build a foundation of enlightened people practices early in the game so that as you scale, you can maintain and evolve your best culture even as your workforce becomes more geographically and ethnically diverse.
AccelPeople is led by Jim Rottman, who is recognized on the Global Diversity List as one of the top 50 global diversity and inclusion professionals. He has extensive experience in the field, most recently as Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion for Roche Pharma. Jim is a passionate leader and national speaker on diversity, inclusion, trust, and the future of work with unique multi-disciplinary experience in human resources, technology, and finance. At the upcoming Life Science Bridge Event on April 7 and 8th, Jim Rottman will be one of the speakers.
“Jim was invited by White House and United Nations to provide insight and best practices on diversity, inclusion and flexible workplaces.”
